What I gained? Everything. What I gave up? Everything.
Maybe a clearer, though still quick and dirty answer would be control; the idea that I had to be/do/make someone or something. That I needed to do A and if I did B could/would/damn well better result. I still work at it every day, letting go, but I'm rewarded again and again when I do.
I'm sure there will be more specific references in posts in the weeks to come.
